I’ve been reading Pope Leo XIII’s encyclical Humanum Genus which condemns Freemasonry.  Although it dates from 1884, I suspect that the opinions expressed in it have lingered on.  Once a Pope proclaims something it is pretty hard for Catholics to ignore it later and admit that it was founded on mistaken assumptions or bad information.  [...]
